Crafting

Welcome To My Homepage Crafting A List Of The Trainers Quests NPCS Links About honorable duelling

To craft, you will need the following:

- A Hammer: you can buy one from Harnquist or Trasok

- A Crafting Book: that explains you how to craft certain kind of things. Those books are acquired through quests:

- Book of Blades: this one is needed to craft... blades, duh. Harnquist gives this one. You will be able to craft daggers, Short, Broad and Long Swords, Claymores, with it, as well as weapon repair kits and maybe sabres.

- Notes of an Axe Maker: obviously, this one allows you to craft axes. You can get it from Trasok. You will be able to craft Small Battle Axe, Battle Axe, Double Axe, and Reinforced Battle Axe with this book.

- Catalog of Shields: It allows you to craft... yes! you find it! shields! You can get this one from Trasok too. With this you will be able to craft Small Round Shield, Reinforced Wooden Shield, and Wooden and Metal Shield. At the moment, no one use shields, but for decorative purposes. If you want to become a shield crafter, don't expect a major success...

You got a hammer, and a book? Perfect! Now, you need one last thing; some steel stocks. You will need to find a regular source of steel stocks, either by making them yourself, to find someone who will give you some, or sell them at a very low price (improbable), or to buy them from the Steel merchants lurking around Harnquist and Trasok (you better be incredibly rich if you buy steel, one stock is worth around 3k trias! and you will need a lot of them).

Okay, you got the hammer, a book, and some steel stock? Then we can start the real crafting.

First, put the book in your mind slot (even experienced player sometimes forget this, so you better start to remember it now :-) )

Then, put the hammer in your left hand, the one with a shield icon.

Now go near a forge (not a furnace!), and put your steel stocks in it. When they are heated, put them in your right hand, then right click on the anvil, and click 'use'. Depending of the quantity of steel stocks you hammer on the anvil, and of the book you have in mind, you will produce different weapon parts:

Book of Blades:

2 Ingots = Sword Handle
5 Ingots = Knife Blade
8 Ingots = Dagger Blade
1 Stocks = Sabre Blade
2 Stocks = Short Sword Blade
3 Stocks = Long Sword Blade
4 Stocks = Claymore Blade

Notes of an Axe Maker:

1 Stock = Small Battle Axe Blade
2 Stocks = Battle Axe Blade
3 Stocks = Reinforced Axe Blade
4 Stocks = Reiforced Battle Axe Blade

Catalog of Shields:

6 Ingots = ? (not accessible at LVL 1)
8 Ingots = ? (not accessible at LVL 1)
1 Stock = Shield Handle
2 Stocks = ? (not accessible at LVL 1)
3 Stocks = ? (not accessible at LVL 1)
4 Stocks = ? (not accessible at LVL 1)
5 Stocks = Buckler Shape
6 Stocks = Small Round Shield Shape
7 Stocks = Small Spiked Shield Shape
8 Stocks = Small Shield Shape
9 Stocks = Round Shield Shape
10 Stocks = Spiked Shield Shape
11 Stocks = Shield Shape

All the other numbers of steel stock you may hammer on the anvil will produce back the same quantity of steel stock, but with a different quality, depending of your blacksmith skill, and of the quality of the steel stock(s).

When you produce an sword handle, once you hammered it against the anvil, you get a finished product, there is nothing more to do with it until you produce a complete sword (we will talk about this later). You can't produce axe handle at the moment, so you have to buy it from Trasok.

For the blades, it is a bit more complex. Rather than giving you long explanations, i did a little drawing. Here is everything you need to know to understand this drawing :

- an arrow represents the change of state of the blade you are crafting, through the use of the smithing equipment : the Anvil, Forge, Quench Tank, and Sharpening Stone.
- to use the Anvil means : to put the blade in your right hand, to right click on the anvil and to click the "use" button, then to wait until the blade's state change.
- to use the Forge means : to right-click on the forge, to click on the "examine" button, to put the blade in the forge, and to wait until the blade's state change.
- to use the Quench Tank means : to right-click on the quench Tank, to click on the "examine" button, to put the blade in the quench tank, and to wait until the blade's state change.
- to use the Sharpening Stone means ; to put the blade in your right hand, to right click on the sharpening stone and to click the "use" button, then to wait until the blade's state change.

Notice how you can get back steel stocks from a brittle blade? That's how you train crafting without having to get new steel stocks each time ;)

So, once you got a blade and a handle, you may want to put them together, to obtain a real, usable weapon, no?

Here is what you need to do : right click on a Smith Table, then click on "Examine". Put the handle and blade into two slots, then click on "Combine", you will obtain a kit (i.e : short sword blade + sword handle = Short sword kit). Wait a bit, et voila! You got a weapon!
